Meet our 2021 Safe Driver Award Recipients

Before we get to this year’s safe driver award recipients, let me tell you what it takes to be considered a safe driver at Wills Transfer.

The Key Principles for a Safe Driver are:

To begin with, being a safe and responsible driver takes a combination of knowledge, skill, and attitude. Next, they must know the traffic laws and driving practices that help traffic move safely. Why? Because breaking the rules of the road can have major consequences for a driver.

At Wills Transfer, a safe driver is a defensive driver. A driver who is skilled in seeing other drivers and in being seen by those same drivers. Additionally, managing space ahead, behind, and on both sides of their load. All this while constantly communicating with other drivers by using eye contact or signals.

A Wills’ driver is consistently aware of the changing traffic conditions and always anticipates problems. They take full responsibility for their safety and the safety of those they share the road with. And of course, they are always mindful of their truck and the load they are carrying.

Driving is a privilege — not a right

Our safe drivers relentlessly make accommodations for the careless drivers they meet on the road and at intersections. And our same drivers do not allow the actions of pedestrians to result in what could be, serious injuries.

In fact, our safe drivers are, medically fit, rested, and attentive to their journey ahead. They’ve completed their pre-trip inspections, logged into their electronic driver logs, and are mentally prepared for all types of weather and road conditions day or night. Add to this, they must remain calm under pressure and be professional at all times.

A safe Wills driver observes speed limits and adjusts speed properly to road and traffic conditions. They slow down in advance of curves, danger, construction, and school zones. And, on four-lane highways, they always remain in the right-hand lane to not impede other traffic.

So, now you know what it takes to be considered a safe driver at Wills Transfer. And I must say, that it is something we take very seriously.

Now, let me introduce you to our 2021 Safe Driver Award Recipients
