Frequently Asked Container De-Stuffing Questions

Container de-stuffing is a lot more complicated than just “unloading a container,” here are some common questions we receive about the process:

  • What exactly does container de-stuffing entail?

The de-stuffing of a container tends to sound more straightforward than it is, and in many ways, it can be simple, but it includes several essential parts that must be assessed each time a new shipment arrives at our warehouse.

It requires a lot of preparation, scheduling, and organization, especially when dealing with high SKU complexity, quality, control, specific TI-HI requirements, and large, bulky products.

If shipments are received from overseas, they most likely will not have been palletized prior to being loaded onto the container. This means that receivers need to be efficient when de-stuffing and reloading the products onto pallets for further distribution.

In addition, your products will likely also need to be tagged or re-labelled according to your requirements to move along the supply chain.

  • Can anyone do container de-stuffing?

To accurately conduct container de-stuffing, you must be trained in the entire process, from receiving to storing. Since we are the first point of contact, the onus is on us to catch any inventory errors or damaged goods. At the same time, we make good use of our time spent de-stuffing containers by guaranteeing that every product is correctly loaded onto pallets, thus reducing labour costs and other expenses.

  • Does Wills Transfer provide pallets?

Yes, if we are De-Stuffing your container, we can source pallets for your products or work with your business’s pallet exchange partner to support your supply chain needs
